Booras returns for his second season with the Blaze and seventh season playing professional hockey in Bloomington. The 5’11”, 180lb forward played college hockey at Lake Superior State University before starting his professional career in 2005 with the UHL Muskegon Fury. In addition to playing in Bloomington, Jon has also made brief appearances with the AHL Iowa Stars and Peoria Rivermen.
Booras had an impressive year despite a hamstring injury that left him benched for 5 weeks. Shortly after his return, Booras competed in his 400th professional contest. During that game, he led the Blaze to a 6-2 victory over the IceMen courtesy of a hat trick completed in the middle frame. The next day, Jon earned Oakley CHL Player of the Week recognition. These accomplishments, along with his great work effort, led the Billing, Montana native to a team-high 27 goals and 53 overall points in just 52 games. Fans voted, and Booras was also awarded the Blaze Most Valuable Player plaque during the final home game of the Blaze 2011-12 season on March 17th.
